Syracuse
March 21, 2004

Our first real destination of the trip was to the ancient Greek city of Syracuse, which was once the home of Aeschylus, Sappho, and Archimedes, and where one can walk in the ruins of the old theater, Roman amphitheater, and the Ear of Dionysius. Marcos, our resident Classicist, treated us to a reading from Homer in the original Greek.
