Giverny
April 18, 2004

On Sunday we took the train to Vernon and then a bus to Giverny to see Monet's house and gardens. It was a rainy day, but that didn't make the flowers any less brilliantly colored. The house is filled with Japanese prints and the painter's original furniture--with windows looking out on to the blooming gardens. After much picture-taking, came the pond, filled with the signature waterlilies and the Japanese bridge, which Monet painted repeatedly for over thirty years. After a visit to the gift shop and a quick lunch, it was back to Paris.
