Chesters & Vindolanda
July 7, 2004

On July 8th I visited Chesters and Vindolanda Roman Forts. Chesters is the best preserved cavalry fort in England, while Vindolanda, still being excavated, boasts a large Roman civilian settlement. The two also have excellent museums and rounded out my understanding of the life and work of the Roman soldiers posted to the Wall.
