Reykholt
Reykholt
October 5, 2008

Reykholt was a medieval center of learning and writing best known as the home of Snorri Sturluson, who is claimed to have written both Egils saga and the Edda, two of the most important works of medieval Icelandic literature. The site is northwest of Reykjavik, beyond Whale Fjord, and now provides a home for medieval scholars and visiting tourists. It was the second stop on our saga tour and we paid appropriate homage to the statue of Snorri who, I'm always having to remind myself, was in fact not one of the seven dwarves.
