The Blue Mosque
January 7, 2009

The Sultan Ahmed Mosque, commonly known as the Blue Mosque, is the national mosque of Turkey and a grand, if slightly smaller companion to the Hagia Sophia. Its six minarets are a dominating presence in the area of the old city where we stayed, and it was great to see the 17th century complex on Thursday.
